Suggested itinerary for the ascent from the Aït Bouguemez Valley

  1. Day 1: Aït Bouguemez – Ikiss
    • Distance: Approximately 9 km
    • Elevation gain: +500 m
    • Description: Departure from Aït Bouguemez village, with a progressive walk through the lush valley to the village of Ikiss. Camping nearby is possible.
  2. Day 2: Ikiss – Tarkeddit Refuge
    • Distance: Approximately 9 km
    • Elevation gain/loss: +1,100 m / -450 m
    • Description: A steady climb to the pass leading to the Tarkeddit plateau, followed by a descent to the Tarkeddit Refuge, where you can set up camp.
  3. Day 3: Tarkeddit Refuge – M'Goun Summit – Return to Refuge
    • Distance: Approximately 22 km
    • Elevation gain/loss: +1,100 m / -1,100 m
    • Description: Early morning departure for the summit of Mount M'Goun. After about 6 hours of trekking, arrival at the peak to enjoy panoramic views. Return to the refuge for the night.
  4. Day 4: Tarkeddit Refuge – Aït Bouguemez
    • Distance: Approximately 18 km
    • Elevation gain/loss: +450 m / -1,600 m
    • Description: Return via the same route to Aït Bouguemez, with a long descent.
